And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. (Luke 4:1-4, KJV)
Jesus was tempted as a man. Jesus experienced human feelings as a man. Through this understanding here are some clarity on truths concerning Jesus being tempted by Satan. First, understand that Holy Spirt according to the will and word of God the Father led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. After Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights he was hungry. He felt hunger as a man just like any one person. Therefore, Satan came to tempt Jesus to misuse what God the Father has given Him to feed or benefit Himself outside of the Father’s will. Jesus would always glorify the Father and not Himself. Jesus overcame all things because He always put God first.
