The Trying of Our Faith Pt.1

Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. (Luke 8:22-25 KJV)

We find here that Jesus rebuked His disciples because they did not believe. When you believe God, it will show in your life. They thought they were going to die in the ship because of the raging storm. Jesus being in the ship with them was asleep. Sometimes when we are going through hardship, God would allow it to occur to test our faith. Christ’s disciples have seen, heard, and known enough to be tested on their faith. (Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God).

Jesus told them let’s go to the other side. This was not just a matter of believing that they can make it to the other side, but believing who Jesus Christ is. They should not have been shocked or surprised that the wind and the raging water obeyed Him when He had rebuked them if they truly believed who Jesus Christ is whole heartily. When we are tried and tested on our faith, the results will show where we stand. When we thought we have believed, it will be tested to show what is in our hearts. Once it is revealed what is in our hearts, then through prayer and meditation God will help us to make the adjustments.
