How do we know that he staggered not at the promise of God? We know that he staggered not at the promise of God because of what he said…And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you (Genesis 22:5 KJV). He told the young men that were with him that he and the lad (Isaac) will come again to them. God had already told Abraham that with Isaac will be the everlasting covenant and his seed after him. Therefore, Isaac would have to be alive in order to have a seed (child) after him.
God doesn’t tempt us with evil, and neither can He be tempted with evil. Thus, when God would have us to do or say something that seems to be out of the ordinary, it is a call for prayer and meditation. This is why we must study, understand, and know the Word of God, so that we can know and discern His voice. Abraham is a prime example of strong faith in God, and not in people or things of this world. True faith in God overrides anything that is natural and mental. In order for us to succeed in our faith, we have to know God.
