1 Peter 3: 3, 4 says, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”
Peter is expressing to his readers that they are to adorn themselves concerning the hidden man of the heart rather than the outer appearance. As the brides (believers) of Christ, we must adorn ourselves in our hearts in preparation to meet Him. Just as John spoke of seeing the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband, so must the Christian be adorned in his/her heart for Christ.
We prepare for Christ by reading/studying/hearing the Word of God, which renews our minds. Present yourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. Praying is another aspect of our daily walk with God. These things are a part of put on Christ in our everyday life. There are other spiritual ornaments that we should put on such as peace, meekness, self-control, love, endurance, joy, gentleness, goodness, and faith.
